right brands. We equate external beauty with power,
success and happiness. However when we invest so
much of our time and money focusing on the external
it is so easy to overlook that it is our internal
state that most effects our day to day relationships
with those we love and therefore has the most effect
on our happiness.
While
there is nothing wrong with the pursuit of external
beauty, it can become a problem if we focus on this
alone and neglect to work on ourselves. By
only valuing the external for yourself you will
eventually come to value this the most in other
people. You will get into relationships with people
based on external factors causing your relationships
to be shallow and unfulfilling in the long term.
Is it
worth it if your partner and close friends are all
beautiful on the outside but only value you for your
appearance and do not truly care for you as a
person? The path to true harmony is when you
invest in both your external beauty and your internal beauty. To do this
requires you to be incredibly self aware, to be able to understand and admit
both your strengths and your weaknesses.
If you acknowledge your weaknesses
it opens up the opportunity to invest into growth and change in order to
become a better person. This is where it becomes important to understand
the
principles of self help - change does not come by doing the same thing over
and over again while wishing for a different result. Change is an investment over time and
begins by identifying exactly what you need to change, most likely a bad
behavior or habit.
Once you have identified what the problem is you need to
lay out a plan of specific and realistic goals. These need to be things that
you can apply on a day to day basis in order to keep yourself focused and
working on your desired change. Enlist people to help you, from those you are
in close relationship with to a self-help group or a therapist if
needed.
There is no change in getting help or doing whatever is required in
order to shape yourself into a better person. Remember true balance is found
when you invest yourself in pursuing not only external beauty but
internal
beauty also. |
